When Carnival Corp. launched fathom as its 10th cruise line they asked our team to travel to the Northern region of the Dominican Republic to capture stills and video for a brand film. Over five days we got off the beaten path and immersed ourselves in the Dominican culture, bringing back imagery that would give fathom's new customers a glimpse into what they would experience when traveling to Puerto Plata. Fathom is a fresh take on the typical cruise, offering to take travelers to locales in need of volunteers looking to make a impact. The cruises consist of a few days at sea before arriving in the Dominican Republic to volunteer, working alongside locals planting trees, making chocolate, or teaching english, or a host of other enriching opportunities. We intended to both show the diverse community here in the D.R. as well how the traveler would experience this type of "impact travel" as fathom calls it.
